How the journey Began....
The students of Bangladesh Medical College, a representative of private medical colleges, became acquainted with Sandhani through the inception of a zone of Sandhani National Eye Donation Society in 1995. Inu (BM 5), Sagar and Antu (BM 7) were active in promoting posthumous eye donation among the masses under the direction of Professor Hasan Shaid and Professor C.H.Kabir. They were also instrumental in collecting blood with the help of students in order to fulfill the needs of the hospital patients.
Located amidst the mechanical urbanity of the capital, the task of meeting the blood deficit in Bangladesh Medical College through the efforts of the students alone proved to be a difficult one. The necessity of establishing a Sandhani Unit was acutely felt at that time. With the all out co- operation of Professor C.H.Kabir & Professor Hasan Shahid, along with students of Bangladesh Medical College, the first voluntary Blood Donation Program was organized by Alamgir, Ishtiak of (BM 10) and Mahtab, Amin, Gias, Kamrujjaman, Shakil and other students of (BM 11).
After the successful completion of this program on 1st Baishakh in 1999 at TSC at Dhaka University, the proposal to establish a Sandhani Unit was strengthened. On that basis, the students at that time applied for a Unit on the 1999 Sandhani Annual Central Conference that took place in Bogra Medical College. But as there was no resolution to establish a unit in a Private Medical College at that time, the authorization could not be attained. That however, did not stop the practicing of donating blood among the students. Apart from organizing Blood Donation Programs on every significant national days: Mashud, Ahmed, Rajon, Nandini (BM 12), Shovon (BM 13), Ridoy, Nayeem, Pulac, Bappi (BM 15) continued there efforts to meet the blood deficit and to establish a Sandhani Unit.
Finally the long – awaited day arrived. In the Sandhani 22nd Annual Central Conference arranged by Faridpur Medical College in 2003, the decision to establish Sandhani Units in Private Medical Colleges was made. At that memorable and joyous moment Mahatab, Mashud, Rajon, Shovon, Ridoy, Nayeem and Bappi were present in the conference. After the long wait, with the support of teachers and students, Sandhani BMC Unit began as the first Private Medical College Unit on April 12th 2004.
Since its inception, with the support and participation of all concerned, Sandhani BMC Unit has contributed significantly to the service of humanity and glorified the banner of Sandhani.

The Spirit with which Sandhani was born:
It is our duty to serve humanity because we are students. This duty is more important for us to discharge because we are medical students. Though the fact remains that we live in a society where the doctors are money making machines. Our thoughts have degraded to such an extent where selfishness have taken over the society though the saying goes “ A doctor is next to God in term of respect and honor”. May be the system of education only imparts knowledge of medicine, but it has failed to imbue in us the spirit of mortality.
So, we feel the necessity of such a thing which would put our future doctors on the right path. Since the doctors are in touch with people form all walks of life, they should take over the roll of community doctors as well as healing diseases. This feeling has sharpen our thoughts. So, we felt that in order to realize our dreams we need such an organization which is based on the ideals of brotherhood. It would be such a community where sincerity will propel the well being of the people. Every sphere will bear the mark of selfness efforts though the purpose of our organizations to create dedicated doctors still our ambition remains that its boundary be expanded towards all horizons. Let all the students be imbued with the spirit “Only steady mind can create something great, beautiful and everlasting”.
