Donating Blood is it very fearful?

From what age a man or a woman can start to donate blood?
 
A healthy person may start donating blood from 18 years of age.
       
What time interval is required between two successive blood donation?
A healthy individual may donate blood at 4 months (120 days) interval.

Does blood donation interrupt the daily activities?
 
As based on factual evidence, no appreciable complication is so far found following blood donation. It does not, of course , interrupt everyday activities. However, the donor is suggested not to carry on any hard work only during that day following donation of blood.
       
For how log the collected blood can be preserved?
Usually from 15 to 21 days. But application of better technology ensure longer maintenance for longer period.

Any additional consideration regarding “sound health” in case of a female donor?
 
Careful consideration may be required if the donor experiences menstruation or pregnancy at the time of donating blood.
       
In which diseases it is not wise to collect blood?
Diseases transmitted by blood or blood products such as plasma, serum etc. The diseases might be, Hepatitis, Syphilis, Gonorrhoea, Aids, Malaria, Kala –a- azar, Tuberculosis etc.

What is the annual demand of blood in Bangladesh?
 
The demand of blood in Bangladesh is about 2.5 millions per year.
       
What percentage of this demand is met through voluntary blood donation?
About 40%.

Why Professional Blood Donor’s blood should be avoided?
 
The Professional Blood Donor have small amount of Haemoglobin in their bloods. Many of them are drug addicted and suffer from several diseases. The sell blood for money every once in a month where as months. As a result the qualitative standard of their blood deteriorated alarmingly. All these conditions may lead to moderate to severe complications for the recipient.
